We had an absolutely brilliant time earlier this month as the whole Goss Team came together with their families for our annual end-of-summer social event.
For us, our annual event is about much more than simply having a good time. It is an opportunity to say a genuine thank you to everyone across the Goss Team for their hard work, commitment and dedication throughout the year.
We have excellent days, good days and, sometimes, not so good days, sometimes the road is smooth, and sometimes rocky, but that is the world of construction and indeed that is the life! But a good team pulling in the same direction is critical to negotiating these pathways.
We also recognise the important support and understanding of our colleagues’ families, who are very much part of the wider Goss family which helps to contribute to the success of our business. As they say – Happy wife (husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, kids), happy life!!
Every year, we like to choose an activity that everyone can get involved with, whatever their age or ability, before coming together afterwards for food, drinks, plenty of laughs and our much-anticipated ‘G-Oscars’.
Foot-golf, friendly competition and plenty of fun
This year, we headed to Wheathampstead Golf Club for a bit of foot-golf competition, combining the best bits of football and golf and, most importantly, giving everyone the chance to get involved. No need for handicaps or wedges – just get the ball in the hole!!
There was some serious competition on the course, with some impressive winners alongside a few second placers! But there is never a loser at Goss!!
The afternoon was a great opportunity for everyone to relax away from the workplace, catch up with colleagues and families, and enjoy some friendly competition. There was even a birthday girl among us, along with a rather delicious chocolate cake which was generously shared with everyone.
The G-Oscars
After the foot-golf, we moved on to the celebrations, with food, drinks and our annual G-Oscars awards.
The G-Oscars have become one of the highlights of our social calendar, celebrating some of the genuine achievements and contributions made by our team, alongside a few awards that are perhaps slightly less serious!
They provide a good way of focusing on people’s attributes, personalities and what they bring to the party at the table of Goss – which is a lot!!
A huge thank you to Jay
Events like this don’t just happen, and we would like to give a very special thank you to Jay Bradbury for organising this year’s social.
Jay did well bringing everything together and thinking through every single detail to make sure the day ran smoothly and that everyone could simply relax and enjoy themselves. Her hard work and attention to detail were very much appreciated by all of us. Also, Faye may have had a fair bit to do with the smooth running of the G-Oscars!
