Hygienic Cladding for Hotel Bathroom Refurbishment

Is Hygienic Wall Cladding an effective alternative to tiled hotel bathrooms walls?

Hotel bathroom refurbishments can be both costly and time consuming, especially when the works include refurbishing all en suite bathrooms. Hotel bathrooms have traditionally been tiled rooms which, naturally, require more labour-intensive cleaning on a daily basis, so must be hardwearing.

Over time, it is often the case that traditional grouting used for the tiled surface can become unsightly through discolouration or damage, in turn, creating an ideal home for germs to lurk.

Hygienic Wall Cladding - The alternative to tiles for Hotel Bathrooms

Thankfully, most hotels will refurbish their bathrooms when the surface finish and tiles do not meet their exacting room quality standards for those all-important star’ ratings. We have found that some hotel chains are now turning to hygienic wall cladding for their en suite refurbishments instead of replacing their finish with traditional tiling.

Hygienic wall cladding substantially reduces the typical wear and tear problems occurring in the future.

Additionally, hygienic wall cladding offers a quick, effective and efficient way to create a sleek, stylish yet hardwearing finish to en suite bathrooms. With a range of colours and cladding options available, the colour themes of the hotel brands can be maintained.

Our clients can choose to have all the original tiling removed and walls prepared, or alternatively, they can opt for hygienic cladding to be installed directly over the top of the existing tiles. This is a much quicker and more cost-effective way to refurbish bathrooms, as it saves time on the cost to remove the tiles and prepare the surfaces. Either method results in achieving a hardwearing, hygienic and stylish finish.

Hotel En Suite Wall Cladding Case Study

We have a great example of installing hygienic wall cladding throughout the hotel en suites for a recent project. The installation was for our client, a contractor working for a well-known national hotel chain. They were undertaking the refurbishment of a Walton-On-Thames based hotel.

Covering two floors, they needed to have all the bedroom en suites refurbished using hygienic wall cladding. The contractor recommended the installation of the cladding over the top of the existing tiled surface to ensure the works were carried out as quickly as possible.

Following our discussions with the client, it was decided that Trovex hygienic wall cladding in white would be used for the hotel refurbishment. Trovex hygienic cladding provides an extremely hardwearing surface, so would be ideal to cope with the frequent use of cleaning products over a long period of time.

The benefits of using Hygienic Cladding for hotel bathrooms include:

  • Tough and long lasting
  • Hygienic and antibacterial
  • Impervious to regular bathroom impacts
  • Resistant to spills and stains
  • Thermoformed for corners and irregular shapes creating clean lines

As is often the case with the hotel bathroom refurbishment, the layout can create a lot of corners and irregular shapes for the wall surfaces. Our team of expert installers were able to accurately thermoform the hygienic cladding, delivering a perfect surface, creating the sleek and modern finish the client required.

It is encouraging to see that hotels are making the shift away from original tiling to the more practical and stylish hygienic wall cladding. We think that the use within the hotel environment further highlights the amazing versatility of hygienic wall cladding.
