Littlebrook Hospital benefits from Trovex Gallery Cladding

The original Stone House Hospital was constructed between 1862 and 1866 to serve the mental health needs of Kent. By 2007, the original buildings had been sold and converted into residential flats. The new Littlebrook Hospital was built to continue providing mental health services to the community.

With the construction of new hospital facilities, the management team wanted to create a comfortable and peaceful environment for their staff. They approached Goss, via Trovex, to supply and install hygienic cladding in a new staff room as part of a multi-phase project.

The Solution

The team chose to install Trovex Gallery, a hygienic cladding sheet with an immersive digitally printed image. Trovex Gallery requires a slightly different installation method and extended planning process.

First, the exact dimensions of the wall were needed so that the image could be precisely planned and positioned to best suit the space. The image was then scaled up and planned across several sheets to match the wall dimensions.

A proof print was then sent to the client for approval before the Trovex Gallery wall cladding was installed. Once approved, the image was printed onto sheets and cut to the exact dimensions of the wall before being delivered to the site.

The printed Gallery sheets were installed with the usual 2-pack adhesive. However, the sheets could not be formed or welded so as not to damage the digital print. This meant that the joints were finished with clear silicone to provide a hygienic seal.

Timing was a very important factor in the supply and installation of the hygienic wall cladding. Goss and Trovex worked together towards a specific deadline, as Littlebrook Hospital was having a grand opening of this new area. It was vital that all the installation processes were completed promptly, efficiently, and without any hiccups.

To further enhance the hygiene levels of the staff room, Troxex White was installed to splashbacks in the kitchen area.
