Recently, we were tasked with supplying and installing the Sikagard® Wallcoat AL-11 system on a Promat Masterboard swimming pool ceiling for a domestic client in the UK. This project highlights the effectiveness and durability of the Sikagard® Wallcoat AL-11 fibreglass system in addressing the specific needs of swimming pool environments.

Scope of Work

Goss are specialist Sika installers. The Sikagard® Wallcoat AL-11 fibreglass system was applied to the swimming pool ceiling to create a robust, thick, reinforced coating membrane. This system was chosen for its exceptional resistance to the high humidity and chemical vapours commonly found in swimming pool settings.

Additionally, the solution ensured an aesthetically pleasing and uniform surface by eliminating texture differences between adjoining substrates, such as board and filler.

The installation process included the following steps:

Application of a Bonding Primer: This step sealed the Promat Masterboard surface, ensuring optimal adhesion for the subsequent layers.

Embedding Reemat Lite Fibreglass Scrim: Using a splicing technique, Reemat Lite fibreglass scrim was embedded and saturated with Sika 403W resin. This step created a seamless, reinforced membrane capable of withstanding the demands of a swimming pool environment.

Final Coating Application: The system was completed with additional layers to ensure a smooth, durable, and aesthetically uniform finish.
